For reminders that don't repeat every day.

Most alarm apps can do "every day" or "every Monday". Periodic Alarm handles the awkward ones — every 2nd day, every 3rd, every 14th — and then rings a full-screen alarm you can't quietly swipe away.

  • Alternate-day medication and injections
  • A heads-up notification 5 minutes before
  • Works fully offline — no internet permission

No ads. No trackers. No sign-up.

100% offline

The app holds no internet permission at all. Nothing can leave your phone.

No account

No email, no login, no cloud sync. Open it and set an alarm.

Exact alarms

Wakes the device even in Doze, and reschedules itself after a reboot.

Tiny & free

One focused tool. No ads, no upsells, no subscription.

Use cases

Built for the schedules that don't fit a weekly grid

If you've ever tried to make a normal alarm app remember "every other day", you already know why this exists.

Medicine reminders

Alternate-day dosing, steroids that taper, tablets you take every third day — set the gap once and the reminder keeps its own rhythm. Your dose name goes straight in the reminder message, so the alarm tells you what to take, not just that it's time.

Injections & treatments

Weekly or fortnightly injections, B12 shots, fertility schedules and allergy courses.

Contact lenses

Fortnightly and monthly replacements — the reminder nobody remembers unaided.

Watering plants

Every 3rd day for the thirsty ones, every 10th for the succulents.

Pet care

Flea and worm treatments, medication, tank cleaning, litter changes.

Training & physio

Rest-day-aware routines: every 2nd day exercises, stretches, recovery sessions.

Bin day & chores

Fortnightly recycling, filter changes, bed linen, descaling the kettle.

Routines & self-care

Hair wash days, retinol nights, supplements taken on a cycle.

Please note: Periodic Alarm is a reminder tool, not a medical device. It doesn't give medical advice or track doses. Always follow the schedule your doctor or pharmacist gave you.

The idea

One number: the gap.

Instead of picking weekdays, you tell Periodic Alarm how many days to skip between rings. The interval is simply the gap plus one.

  • 0rings every day
  • 1rings every 2nd day
  • 2rings every 3rd day
  • 6rings weekly
  • 13rings fortnightly

Pick a start date, pick a time, and the whole series follows from there — no calendar entries to maintain and nothing to re-arm each week.

A gap of 1 — starting Monday the 5th

Alarm rings Skipped

How it works

Three taps and you're done

  1. Pick a start date and time

The series begins whenever you say — today, or the day your next course starts.

  2. Choose the gap

    Use a preset — Daily, 1-day, 2-day, 4-day, Weekly, Bi-weekly — or type any number.

  3. Write the reminder

"Take 5 mg tablet with food." That text is what the alarm shows when it rings.

Features

Hard to ignore, easy to live with

An alarm is only useful if it actually gets your attention — and only tolerable if you can dismiss it in one gesture.

Full-screen alarm

Takes over the lock screen, turns the display on and shows your reminder in large type. Dismiss with a single swipe up.

5-minute heads-up

A quiet notification five minutes ahead, so a dose can be timed with food or you can get to the fridge before the alarm sounds.

Tap Skip on that heads-up and only the next ring is dropped. The rest of the series carries on untouched.

Rings properly

Your system alarm tone at alarm volume, with vibration — routed through the alarm channel so it isn't muffled by media settings.

Survives restarts

Every enabled alarm is re-registered automatically after the phone reboots. Nothing silently disappears.

Beats Doze mode

Scheduled as a true system alarm clock, so it fires on time even after hours of the phone sitting idle.

One switch per alarm

Pause a course without losing its schedule, then flip it back on when you resume.

Clean, modern UI

Built with Material 3 and Jetpack Compose, with dynamic colour on Android 12+.

Privacy

Your medication schedule is nobody else's business.

Health-adjacent reminders are sensitive data. The simplest way to protect them is to never collect them — so Periodic Alarm doesn't.

  • No INTERNET permission in the app, so no data can be uploaded
  • Alarms are stored in a local database on your device only
  • No analytics, crash reporting, advertising IDs or third-party SDKs
  • Nothing is shared or sold, because nothing is ever received
  • Uninstalling the app removes your data with it

FAQ

Questions, answered

How is this different from a repeating alarm in the Clock app?

Stock clock apps repeat on chosen weekdays, so anything that isn't a 7-day cycle drifts out of alignment. "Every 2nd day" lands on different weekdays each week — Periodic Alarm counts days, not weekdays, so it stays correct indefinitely.

Can I set several alarms with different gaps?

Yes. Each alarm has its own start date, time, gap and reminder message, and its own on/off switch.

What if I miss one, or want to skip a day?

Tap Skip today on the 5-minute heads-up notification and only that occurrence is dropped; the schedule continues as planned. You can also toggle an alarm off temporarily.

Will it still ring if my phone is locked or silent?

Yes. Alarms use Android's alarm channel and appear over the lock screen. Note that if you've silenced the alarm volume itself, Periodic Alarm will raise it so you're not left with a silent alarm.

Does it work without an internet connection?

Always — the app has no networking code and no internet permission. Flight mode makes no difference to it.

Which Android versions are supported?

Android 8.0 (Oreo) and newer. On Android 12 and above you may be asked to allow "Alarms & reminders", and on Android 14 and above to allow full-screen notifications — both are needed for an alarm to ring on time.

Is it really free?

Yes. No ads, no in-app purchases, no subscription and no paid tier.

Set it once. Stop counting days.

Free, offline and ad-free. Around a megabyte, and it does exactly one thing well.

Requires Android 8.0 or later.
